For the sake of completion,
Peter Kennedy’s recordings (formerly issued under the name of Folktracks) are
included in this discography. Only wholly or more than partial Irish recordings
are listed below with dates of the recordings given in brackets where known.
All were originally issued as cassettes, though Kennedy subsequently made his
recordings available on CD-R, though made no effort to upgrade the shoddily
produced liner notes which accompanied the original releases. The publication
of this list should not be interpreted as a means of support for the late Mr.
Kennedy’s activities (and those unfamiliar with his track record should delve
into the Musical Traditions and Mudcat Café websites for illumination regarding
the various allegations laid at his door).
Peter Kennedy died in 2006 and
his widow Beryl in the following year. As a result the Folktrax organisation
has been wound up. Topic Records has acquired the rights to the recordings and
plans to issue selections from them, in a Voice of the People style,
from 2009 onwards.
