Top Rank International

This long-defunct, London-based UK label operated from 1958 until around 1963, initially selling records in the Rank chain of cinemas, though this idea was soon ditched and the company concentrated on shop sales. The first two digits of the catalogue number (before the slash) indicated the record’s selling price, e.g. ‘30’  meant thirty shillings (£1 10 shillings in pre-decimal days, £1.50 now), which apparently caused some confusion when the prices were almost immediately raised. Many thanks to John Cummins for reminding me about the extent of J. Arthur Rank’s empire and providing the bulk of these listings.
